Absolutely Not Worth my Money
Výhody: The crew was kind and helpful. The flight went smoothly and we arrived safely at our destination.
Nevýhody: Incredibly old aircraft - there were no personal televisions, and I was on a 10-hour flight. Entertainment scored 0/5 stars. XL is also the only airline I’ve traveled on that weighed my carry-on baggage, and gave me a difficult time because it wasn’t under 5 kilos. Check-in scored 1/5 stars. I had to pay what I feel is an unreasonable amount to have a dietary restricted meal (vegan), whereas this is free on most other airlines I have traveled on. Even though I paid the vegan meal fee, XL still did not provide me a vegan snack about two hours before landing. They said that wasn’t included, just the “vegan dinner” without any additional snacks, even though all other airlines take my diet into consideration throughout the whole flight, not just dinner time. Meal scored 1/5 stars. XL upcharged for everything, including blanket/pillow care package, any cold beverage that wasn’t water, and snacks that weren’t “included” in the meal - all of these items are usually included in the ticket price of any 10-hour long flight. Overall, negative to mediocre experience at best. I will not be booking with XL again. Not worth my money or time.

Nevýhody: The boarding process was so unorganized, which made the flight over an hour late leaving. The televisions did not work. And only played two movies, on an 11 and a half hour flight. no refreshments were offered to be purchased, nor was food. Before landing the crew hurried and delivered food, at the last hour before landing. The plane had a sour smell to it

This airlines scams people out of money
Nevýhody: They denied boarding to at least 11 Americans in spite of the fact that there was more than 2.5 hours prior to departure. I'd get into the details more but I don't have time for this. Just avoid. Unprofessional, rude, and they don't have any presence at CDG. Garbage airlines
Get what you pay for
Výhody: The price was nice, they do give you a snack and dinner, with complimentary water throughout the trip. Flight attendant gave me medicine after I had a really bad headache towards the tail end of the flight which was really sweet.
Nevýhody: The seats weren’t as comfortable as previous long distance flights I’ve attended plus in-flight entertainment was minimal. There was complete disorganization during boarding, and lines got confusing. It’s a cheap flight so not much was expected though!
Nevýhody: I found it very lacking in everything. the entire experience was awful.,Just from offering us minimum information on the status of our plane , as it turned 2am in the morning ...we were not any information. quality, the plane was dirty , one of our seats did not recline, and our TVs did not work, and the staff seemed to all have an attitude. I won’t be flying again with Norwegian
Výhody: 1. Flight attendants: they were nice, amicable and doing everything possible to keep us pleased with the poor circumstances your organization put them. They were able to keep the pent up anger passengers had at bay with their professionalism. Besides that there is nothing that would make any traveler with me that paid as much as I did (over $700 one way from BCN to Oakland) “oh that was nice”.
Nevýhody: In my notes below, I will give a perspective with a friend that was traveling at the same with me but with Delta. He paid less money for the same travel, at the same time, from the same airport. 1. Boarding: repeated delays waiting in a section of the airport that is not air conditioned left us all tired and sweating with heat. Mind you, the gates are in a section with all glass walls, and there is the summer heat outside. Friends that took another airlines in another section of the airport and who paid less had air conditioning in their section of the airport. And they were boarded on-time. 2. Onboard: while onboard, we had to wait for at least an hour in the runway with no air conditioning in the plane that made it even more hot and sweaty than in the airport. At lease we could walk around or get on our WiFi in the airport. Our friends on delta had air conditioned plane, with gogo WiFi that took off on time. Ours felt like an old third world bus where everyone was sweating fanning themselves with whatever they had. It was smelly. 3. Entertainment: there in-flight entertainment devices do not work. They say they do, but they don’t. Information in them says the plane is owned by a Nigerian company. The flight info was wrong. At the end of our flight, we found out that there were iPad devices. That info was not given to us and no one knew until almost at the end of our flight. Our counterparts in delta had intuitive inflight entertainment with a selection of movies and tv shows. 4. Food: food was decent. No complaints. They was it was served was a little tacky as they poor flight attendants were going away by seas reading a list of names to give the same food to everyone. It felt like a cheesy nightclub entry list process. I honestly thought anyone in the plane deserved to eat for what they went through, and no list was necessary for that. 5. Cabins: the way the airlines separated services between different cabins was by taking away basic amenities to the economy section as opposed to adding more amenities to the premium sections. We love Norwegian, we use it all the time. But we can’t imagine how you partnered with such airlines that does not live up to your level. Overall experience was very poor and I don’t know how we can recoup anything from this...

Nevýhody: Poor food and drink(a red and white wine choice; no other alcohol) The food was worse than I’ve gotten in economy; A heated up boxed dinner...no outlet for phone or computer; my seat was broken and a replacement was not offered. No overnight kit. To drink, just apple juice, orange juice water ant the 2 wine choices. No pillows available, just one thin blanket. During safety talk, spoke of lights on the floor in case of emergency, but this old plane did not even have them; ludicrous that they should mention it when plainly not in existence...

Nevýhody: Boarding took forever , security control at the gate as we already passed the security check (totally useless), broken seat, uncomfortable seat, space is not enough as I had to be against the person next to me and not enough room for legs, no screen, food pretty bad as most airlines.
Nevýhody: Absolutely terrible experience. The airplane was filthy. All the seats were stained and by the end of the flight, there was trash everywhere. No wonder. The service was also poor. We asked for a pillow and the flight attendant couldn’t be bothered. It seemed that they were severely understaffed. Oh and my flight was delayed 2 hours so I missed my connection flight as well. I have never felt compelled to write a review before but I thought that this experience warranted my first. I have ridden pretty much every budget airline and sadly, this flight couldn’t even come close. Will never ride Norwegian again. I am also becoming jaded with Kayaks service
Overall - POOR
Nevýhody: Flew Business from CDG-LAX. My table was broken. They switched me to a new seat that couldn’t recline. Purser said no other seats left. Meanwhile flight crew is taking up 6 indidivual biz class seats! That's like $20,000 worth of profits! When do all 6 crew members needs to sleep at the same time? So for the 12 hour flight, I couldn’t eat, sleep or work properly. Feel ripped off!

Nevýhody: Where to start. This company is a mess. They have dragged all of the airline industry's advancements in quality, comfort, efficiency and even fun - back to the 80's. The only thing that they could do worse is allow smoking in flight. I wrote a separate review of our flight from NY to London... oh man, just thinking about that experience makes my blood boil. The flight home was equally a disaster. Of course, there is still no on-line check in. No seat assignments for an 8+ hour flight. I don't know about everyone else, but not holding a seat assignment next to my family creates a lot of stress on my travel day. Of course, true to Norwegian's terrible form, my family was separated at the gate. As were several families around us. There was no rhyme or reason - as if the part of the booking software that keeps tickets booked at the same time together was just turned off. Everyone, naturally, began to swap and try to figure it out ourselves which of course led to boarding delays. Uugh, I really dislike this airline. Then we flew to NY. No electrical outlets, no movie, terrible food, terrible seats, the flight crew moves bags in the overhead as they see fit - so you may have your bag moved to a bin further BACK. Have fun with that when it's time to get off the cattle hauler. Flight crew was a nasty, bumping, shoving, bitter mess. I was in an isle seat (without my family) and was knocked into so many times that i finally raised my voice and loudly said, "EXCUSE ME". She stopped, turned around and said, "I guess an excuse me would be right for that one". WTF? Have these people ever flown themselves? We arrived at our destination very early - almost an hour!? Which means that the pilot didn't fly the route/speed designed to maintain the schedule and maximize aircraft efficiency. Then he bragged about arriving early and slammed the JFK airport authorizes for "never having a gate ready". We were all pissed - what fool would roll up to one of the busiest airports in the world, an hour early, and expect them to have a gate, ground crew, luggage equipment, fuel, even a runway ready for you?! So, we sat on the taxiway, jamming the airport up - while Captain Caveman complained on the PA about JFK. JFK should fine these clowns. I should forward this to the JFK airport authorities. A calmer note to Norwegian management: Just look around you. All of the other airlines have it pretty well figured out by now, in 2018. People are smiling. Flights are quiet, smooth and still profitable. Get the basics down (seat families together, etc) and then develop and launch grand new ideas like your $65 surcharge if all of your combined carry on items exceed 10kg. Until then - you suck.

Very attentive crew and saved a lot of money
Výhody: First I was a little skeptical about the flight based on bad reviews - it turned out to be very worth the money! I wish I flew with XL to Europe as well! I did not have to pay for checking in luggage, it was free. The plane was not full - the crew offered passengers to change seats. They provided 2 meals (yes, there were options to buy if you wanted choices). After dinner a flight attendant asked if I wanted additional hot pocket since there were few left! Very pleased and very worth the money saved!
Nevýhody: There were no tv screens at each seat, but they were showing 2 movies on the screen in the front - no big deal for me. I did not care about the movie anyways, plus there was an option to get an ipad for those who wanted to see movies - for $15. (Nothing compare how much I saved on the ticket)
Restless 9.45 hrs
Výhody: My chair did not recline back what so ever and when I mentioned this to the flight attendant she told me to press the button and lean back after I showed her that that did not work she said I'm sorry I don't know. No options were provided to me. Also, there were many infants on the flight. One of which was sitting behind me kicking my chair. 9.45 hours sitting straight up like a board with a couple making out in my lap with their chairs leaned all the way back and an infant screaming and kicking my chair the whole ride.
Nevýhody: Broken chair. Entertainment that was only in French. No personal space. Screaming infants kicking my chair. And a flight attendant that offered no help.
Nevýhody: Check-in ended an hour prior to the flight and I was not able to check in as I arrived less than an hour in advance. I was then told I could call the company but that I would have to wait an hour as there was no one available who spoke English.
Výhody: Flight on time

Výhody: Food served was good but only served water on a transatlantic flight. Really!!!
Nevýhody: No self check so we're in line what seemed like eternity. Then we're in another line for passport check and then another for security. Got to the airport 3 hours before my flight and got to the gate with 5 minutes to spare. I literally had to run as if it was the " Amazing race". The crew was no friendly. I saw when a passenger asked if there were some blankets available (9 hour trip) and they said no. When in fact they were saving it for them when they went to sleep.
Nevýhody: Norwegian airlines online self check in system would not allow me to check in online prior to my departure. I was running late to the airport and despite arriving an hour before my international flight and having carry on only luggage they refused to check me in. The insisted my flight was NON REFUNDABLE and their only advise was to buy another ticket with them the following day at a much higher price. Horrible customer service. Completely nonprofessional and unaccommodating.
Výhody: The seating was spacious and comfortable. The crew was very friendly and helpful as well. The entertainment mechanism was intuitive and easy to use. It had some good selections. The food choices were alright
Nevýhody: The entertainment selection was rather small. Most of the selections were old, even if they're generally good movies. It would be nice to have TV series selections as well or minigames.

Nevýhody: Due to illness I was unable to take the flight. I had a doctors certificate. I called XL airways and kayak 12 hours in advance of the flight and I was refused a refund or credit to change to another date. Really really disappointed. Lost all the money spent on the flight. Will never book with XL airways again.

Great Budget Airline with Budget Airline Service
Výhody: Checkin was a very easy process, I was even allowed to check in both my luggage and my carry-on bag. I assume this was because I stayed within the weight limitations when it was very obvious that other passengers around me had not. Overweight and oversize luggage, more luggage than what was allowed and then arguing with the desk people. All things I saw other passengers do but I had a very pleasant experience. Boarding was fast and efficient. They boarded from the back to the front of the plane. Again, it was fast, everyone was in their seats and ready to depart way before the 11:55pm departure time. Staff was friendly but service was slim. Basic drinks when we got on the plane and a small breakfast before landing about 6 hrs later. Again, good thing this was a red eye flight and most people - myself included - just fell asleep.
Nevýhody: The seats are very very thin. Probably the thinest seats I have ever sat in. Good thing I can sleep anywhere because I would have been very uncomfortable sitting awake on those seats for and 8hr flight. The plane is obviously a much older model, no personal entertainment systems on the seats just 1980's tube televisions hanging every couple of rows from above. There really was no entertainment, something was playing on the TVs but I couldn't figure out what it was or how to listen in from the seat controls.
Could be better
Nevýhody: Had to check my bag. Was told it was too heavy even tough other airlines let me carry-on the same bag at the same weight.one Boarding was a mess. No speaker announcement was made. So people lined up in line even though boarding was by section. People should have been told not to stand in line. Nobody could hear boarding instructions in the end of the line. Lots of turbulence was scary. No entertainment. After landing and being told we could get our bags and leave, then we were told to go back to our seats and that the plane had been directed to the wrong gate. Then we were told to get up and leave again. Not very organized.
Great option for a low budget but don't expect muc

Nevýhody: It was an 8h + flight and only got a tiny meal. They would even charge you if you want more coffee or tea. There was no entertainment whatsoever. The old cathode ray tvs that hang from the ceiling were never turned on, but do help make you feel like you are flying in very old airplane.
I will not fly with XL Airways France again.
Nevýhody: XL Airways has a policy that allows passengers to pay for excess baggage up to 24 hours in advance of a flight. The rate is 70€ per extra bag. When I flew with XL, my wife and I were both carrying an extra suitcase containing gear for our respective work. I attempted to pay for these bags 4 times in advance, but XL's online payment system was broken. I documented this with screenshots of my attempts and the error message that their system gave me. Upon arriving at the airport, the check in staff would not allow me to pay for the pre-airport rate despite having shown them the documentation that I made in advance. Instead of charging 70€ per bag, they charged $140USD per extra bag. The staff (manager included) at JFK was not able to offer us any explanation - "This is the airport rate." XL's customer service has not yet replied to my request for a refund of the difference between the rates. Having sought out a bargain flight, I really did not mind sitting on an uncomfortable old plane and being served terrible 'french toast' before landing in France (though that did elicit a few laughs), but please don't charge me double for my bags when your website crashed.

Výhody: I loved that I lucked out on space.
Nevýhody: The caveat to having the large amount of space seat at 36 is that you're right next to the escape exit. And its 100 degrees average in NYC right now.. so I didn't bring warm clothing. However, the escape exit let it so much cold air drops formed and fell on me as we were landing. I was so cold. And they ran out of blankets! Otherwise. It was wonderful. The Stewards are gorgeous and divine.
Checked our carry on without asking
Výhody: The flight itself is fine and what you'd expect given the price, though you have to pay for every little amenity that's standard on other airlines. Checkin services were poor, flight was delayed, and it was overall hectic except for in the air.
Nevýhody: The person checking us in told us our carry on was too heavy, even though it was standard weight for most airlines. We removed somethings, and tried to reweigh it. She tagged it and checked it and continued shipping it off on the belt as we asked her to stop because we needed our visa papers. She tried to tell us we'd be fine even though it says clearly that we need to present our visa papers to get back in the US. She could careless, but we insisted we need our bag back. She never apologized for checking our bag without confirming. She was annoyed that she had to figure out how to retrieve our bag. We got to the airport 3 hours before our flight, and the only reason we made it was because it was delayed. Otherwise, we would've missed it. I'm not one to complain usually, but the staff could truly not care at all about the customers. That alone is why I won't use this airline again, which is a shame seeing how we take a flight back to France at least 4-5 times a year.
Výhody: - Felt that the crew was very professional and dealing the best they could. - Impressed with the cleanliness of the toilets. - Check-in representatives were extremely professional. - Pilot was excellent---very smooth takeoff and landing.
Nevýhody: - Took off late with little explanation - Nickel and diming clients never sits well for me... I would rather pay a bit more for the ticket and be done with it. - Reducing baggage allowance weight down from the internationally practiced ones is disgraceful. - No earphone jack in my chair

Výhody: The flight was smooth crew were professional. Leg room was small. No TV. Just a few over head that was impossible to watch from my set
You pay for what you get
Výhody: Meal included and Seats were ok for an older plane.
Nevýhody: Staff didn't seems to happy to be working there, boarding process was a complete cluster front to back middle everything was nuts. Old plane and equipment, tube TVs every 5 or so rows and some TVs did not work. Sound quality of movies was bad and public announcements were also barely understood.
Výhody: Efficient plane ride. Decent leg room. Nice flight attendants.
Nevýhody: I was not able to check in a day earlier. Check in was too long. Too many items not provided that you had to pay for in the plane. Did not have option to pick your own movie and not your own tv monitor. Thanks.
Tv was broken
Nevýhody: For a 9 he flight that had one viewing screen over head that was a vacuum tv which rattled on taxi take off and landing. During the flight the tv was off on color and would jump around making it hard to look at. Also 70%of what they showed for entertainment was only available in French. There was one in flight meal that was flavorless. No over head light available. No inflight music available. No wifi.
Does the job
Výhody: It the job of physically flying you where you want to go and that's pretty much it.
Nevýhody: We boarded over an hour late without any explanation. The crew was not the most friendly especially at checkin. The lights in the flight were all messed up and they played movies at night on the general tvs which was so distracting for those trying to sleep which was everyone (red eye).
Nevýhody: The plane was the oldest and most unmaintained I have ever seen.
Výhody: Organized boarding although it was late by half an hour

It got me to where I was going, but I wouldn't fly
Výhody: The crew were friendly enough, and the flight left pretty much on time.
Nevýhody: The check-in process was really slow and stressful — many of us were worried we wouldn't make it to the gate on time. The entertainment options were very bad: there aren't TVs for every seat, so no entertainment options at all except two old overhead TVs that were playing standup comedy in French. The information on the website about requiring and e-ticket was confusing, self-contradictory, and in the end, not accurate.
Don't fly with this company
Nevýhody: After millions of flights this was my worst old plan and worst food
not as good coming back to JFK as it was going to
Výhody: The positive was the overall flight was fine and the staff (on ground and in air) were pleasant.
Nevýhody: The negative was that we left almost an hour late because we were told we were waiting for a few late passengers. WHAT airline does that? Usually if you are late, the door closes and that is it. Also, because this isn't a "mainstream" airline, the check-in desk was at the furthest point of the terminal and the gate was also at the other farthest end. Lastly, when we arrived at JFK, we waited a full hour at the baggage carousel for our bags to arrive. Now that could be JFK's fault but at 11 pm at night on a Friday, it shouldn't take until midnight to get bags from a flight. Even though we saved money by flying XL, we won't be flying them again. It was too stressful dealing with the ridiculous amount of time it took to return home. Also, having to arrive at least 4 hours earlier than the departure time to wait in line to get seat assignments/check-in just isn't worth it. Oh, and they are VERY strict about the luggage weight requirements. Plan accordingly if you want to bring wine back from France.

Nevýhody: There was no overhead space for the middle rows so the overhead compartments were extremely cramped. There was also less overhead space because some of the compartments were being used to store things for the airplane, like toilet paper and extra soap.

Výhody: Affordable flight ticket
Nevýhody: They won't have any machine to let you check-in by yourself, so everybody have to be on line to see a XL personnel at the counter. I waited for 1hr&10min until I get to the counter. Longest I ever waited for check-in. Once I get to the counter, it took them for 20min to have me check-in, passing me around to 2 different personnel. I asked them if there's any problem, and they just told me 'she will take care of you' pointing the next personnel they pass me onto. No explanation whatsoever. They will not let you pick seats upon booking, they assign you upon your check-in, separating couples & groups traveling together. So naturally there are a lot of people asking to swap seats to be seated together once on board, which could be another hustle. There's no entertainment monitor for each seats. Flight crew were all nice & friendly. Overall, yes it is affordable, but I'll probably opt for different airlines unless the price gap is large enough to convince me to go through this experience again.
