One hour is not enough to transfer between flights in Istanbul! It was a long run through the airport to make our flight on time. Then once we boarded, a lot of time was wasted with a woman who seemed to have been sick, yet the staff eventually let her stay on the flight. I hope that she was not contagious. Another problem on the long flight was that water was not available often enough. The flight attendants could have gone up and down the aisles with prefilled water cups a few times between meals. 10 hours is a long flight requiring more hydration. The flight crew was always courteous, friendly and efficient as we have found on all of our Turkish airlines flights. We appreciated the effort to accommodate English speaking passengers. We also find the entertainment options superior on Turkish Airlines. This was extra helpful on the long flight. My one complaint on the entertainment is that I could lower the music volume a bit more so I could have background music and sounds while trying to sleep.

Boarding was straightforward in IST, but security was strict (everyone's passport, boarding pass, and Covid tests were checked and re-checked 3 times within about 40 ft by 3 different sets of TK employees), with a final carry-on bag check with bomb nitrates swab for every passenger. And that was before boarding passes were scanned to step onto the plane. I first flew Turkish Airlines in 2005 and was extremely impressed. (The strict security process for flying to the US was much the same then as now, when they flew from the old Istanbul airport.) I have flown TK several times since and seen improvement, but not at the rate of its competitors, especially in the region. However, for my last trip (with a long leg between IST and LAX) they were half the price of other flagship carriers. Food quality, quantity and variety have declined, although that may be due to Covid restrictions. The lavatories remained clean but at least one ran out of TP & all other paper supplies half way to LAX. A couple of passengers (in economy, with me) took to using the business class lavatories and got into a dispute (real shouting match) with the flight attendants about it. (The passengers were in the wrong and escalating with unreasonable demands, but one flight attendant let his temper get the better of him. I didn't count but it seemed that there were fewer flight attendants on duty, with one being a fully robed "hygiene officer".) They did take Covid seriously, and distributed hygiene kits with masks, wipes, etc. to every passenger. If transiting through Istanbul before a long flight leg, consider using the airport hotel (YotelAir) within the terminal for international transfers (behind security). Reserve a room, as it was booked out when I last flew through. Otherwise, there are few places to sit down or rest once through to the International Transfers area.

We waited for 75 minutes (1.25 hours) until after EVERY OTHER PASSENGER was on board. The flight attendant was unresponsive to us, talked down to my husband and me in a way that was insulting, rude, demeaning and very nasty. When another passenger complained that he did not get the seat that the attendant just changed for him, FOUR flight attendants helped him - one person got on the phone with someone (I don't know who), another went down to his seat to see where he was sitting. Yet another came and tried to explain why they couldn't help and finally a fourth tried to speak with another attendant on board. Whether or not his problem was solved, I don't know, but this was in the middle of our conversation (with only one attendant, I will add), and so his attention was taken away from us and put on him. Our seats were changed from seats closest to the bathroom to the middle of the plane. My husband cannot walk so 14 rows walking was not possible. I will say that finally, it took three volunteers who offered their seats to us to sit near the much needed bathroom. Regarding being seated near the bathrooms, when we asked for an aisle chair (that they told us they had on board) we were told to "stand there. we will get one in around 10 minutes). And, the wheelchair was sent all the way to the BAGGAGE CLAIM and NOT GATE CHECKED, when we arrived in Houston, we can clearly see the frame is bent, the wheels are out of alignment and the brake is also bent out of shape. The wheelchair is a custom made chair just for my husband. We will be sending Turkish Airlines the bill for a new chair if it cannot be repaired. I hope you can see to address these problems. I am not hopeful it is not normally like this for Jews who wear their head coverings. As far as I can see, the charge is just straight up greed, since no one would be able to use the space beneath the seat in front of me, anyway, and carrying on my cat cause zero extra work for the crew. Nevýhody: "The seats are very uncomfortable on Austrian air. The only way I would fly them again would be if I had extra money for the exit rows with more leg room. Food isn't great, but no airline food is really great. Boarding was significantly delayed from what it said on the boarding pass, with no updates. But we arrived on time. Getting luggage after flight at Dulles took a really long time, but I think that is more of an airport issue as getting my luggage from another Austrian airlines flight to another airport was a breeze."
Výhody: "The seats were very nice, and I found it very pleasing that everything was colour coordinated. (the small details in red and the rest in gray). The flight attendants were so happy and upbeat, it lifted your mood as well! I believe that we left a few minutes early, as boarding was completed early. And thefood? Mind-blowing for airplane food. I really enjoyed this flight."
Nevýhody: "There wasn’t much I didn’t like about the flight. Sometimes the announcements were very slightly difficult to hear (accents and whatnot,) but you could still tell what they were saying."

Some other taxi driver gave ya a ride & charged ys $50 rather than $20 that ya the cost of our reserved ride. When we got to our hotel, we had to pay $20 for the transfer to hotel even though he left. Now we have no toothbrush or any change of clothes & hopefully we will get our luggage tomorrow after 2pm"
Výhody: "Nothing, we never got to go on our flight to Vienna. The only good thing is the manager, Servando, found us an alternative route after some delay. Even then, we had to haggle and really fight for fair treatment for a mistake that was 100% the airline's fault."
Nevýhody: "Our seats were involuntarily given away by the airport staff. We were never notified until we were scanning our tickets to board in. At that time, we had already checked in and received our boarding passes, as well as checking in 3 bags while we were traveling with a large group. There was no way we wanted to volunteer our seats, especially since we had a transfer flight to catch. We clearly stated we did NOT want to volunteer our seats at the ticket counter. No staff notified us until we were about to get on the plane to board. The flight supervisor was very rude and unprofessional, offering us no alternative solutions. I was really disappointed with such a grievous mistake by the airline, and I would not recommend flying Austrian Airlines unless it was absolutely the only airline available. They need to fix their processes for authorizing when they volunteer a passenger's seat. This caused our group a lot of stress and almost became a logistical nightmare."

KAYAK system is still sending me questions how was my trip! Ironically? Additionally, I had to book another ticket to get close to my destination, book a midnight Taxi to another country."
Výhody: "Easy boarding. Using a smaller Dadh 8 on this flight meant we had a lovely view of Alps."

Nevýhody: "Kayak sent me an email at 5:16am for an 8:15 am flight titled, "Austrian Airlines flight #704 from PRG on time". It was in fact cancelled. Unfortunately we missed the connection for the flight to Newark, which we were expressly told would be held for us... they shut the door 30 seconds before we arrived, with the plane still at the gate. Had to then go to the only counter in the terminal to see if we could get on standby. Finally got on a flight to JFK instead at 5:15pm."

Výhody: "Our seats 35 A & C were comfortable as they were to the back of the plane where it narrows to two seats per side row. Seemed like extra leg room. Crew was very friendly and helpful. Flight was smooth and uneventful. Good movie choices. Bathroom was clean and nearby. Plane seemed newer Boeing model. The City Airport Transport (CAT) train from the Vienna airport to city center was fantastic. We were able to check our luggage and get boarding passes where we boarded the CAT at the metro station and did not have to wait in line at the airport...wonderful system!"
Nevýhody: "At the gate there was a line formed for a second passport check but it was not clear to passengers that they needed to go through this line. A significant number of us had SSSS on our boarding passes which required us to go through a second, more thorough, TSA security procedure. We had to remove shoes, take electronics including phones from cases, have purse contents gone through by personnel, be screened for residue, etc. Due to this process and the fact that we were not advised to stand in the line, a number of passengers went through the second security check at the last minute which caused our takeoff to be delayed. The pilot made up the time during the flight. I ordered low sodium meal which ended up to be the same food at both meals which was a disappointment - pasta with tomato, eggplant sauce."

Nevýhody: "Unfortunately the food was poor quality. You should pay attention to people who eat kosher and have an option available. Eventho I have marked it on my ticket I need kosher food it wasn't available. It is upsetting. It would be a must at every company, regardless of the service to have name tags for the employees!!! Mostly the flight attendants were kind, but as soon as i asked for something it seemed like they don't want to help or work at all. I understand I have traveled on the economy class but shouldn't make a difference how you treat the travelers. The pillows were dirty!!!!! Not only one, because I have asked for more......most of them! It is disgusting! Something must have been wrong with the headphones because the volume was on max when i tried to watch the move but barely could hear anything. I have flew with Lufthansa most of the time and in the future will chose them. Very disappointing that sooo many little things are interrupting a vacation."

She then made my flight a nightmare, until I let her sit in my aisle seat. Even then she was not satisfied, she abused me the whole flight damaged the screen so I could not use it until the steward fixed it. Demanded that I except any and all alcohol to give to her to drink. When I am tea total she then continued to abuse me. I asked the steward to move me he just shrugged his shoulders and said there was nowhere else. This is definitely my the worst flight I have experienced."

Nevýhody: "Was not informed that checking in online is the only way to secure a seat. So, regardless of whether you book your tickets 3 months in advance or the day before, you're not actually guaranteed a seat unless you check in online. We weren't told this until we were at the airport and checked in there that we might not be able to get our pre-booked in advance flight because of over-booking from KLM. We then had to wait and see if there were seats available when boarding. Luckily, there were, but we were not sat together. Not the greatest start to our first holiday together as a couple. We were told that if there weren't seats available, they'd pay for us to get to another airport to fly out, which would have meant a huge delay on the only time off we'd get together this year and have to rearrange our pre-booked and pre-paid living arrangements for the week. All because there wasn't a lot of emphasis on the need to check in online before hand. You'd think if someone checked in at the airport, that would be more of a guarantee that they'd be flying with you that day, but apparently not. Definitely not impressed or happy with this part of the KLM experience. This is the only company that we've had this problem with, they should make it clearer that it is essential to check in online."

It was an overnight flight, so maybe that should have been expected, but I don't think we had those 4 years ago when traveling overseas."
