The only currency exchange is on the other side of passport control so you have to use one of the ATMs and they only give you $100. The staff is unprofessional and seems clueless when you ask them for help. The kiosks are a nightmare and working with them is worse than working with the people. They freeze, and glitch and many of them just flat out don't work. Probably one of the worst airports I've ever been to."

Výhody: "The traditional hospitality I got in flight was quite unique. Many things change but some things always remain the same. Some may call it old fashioned or not modern but then I am an old fashioned guy. It was like stepping back in time when things were always so much nicer."
Nevýhody: "Istanbul airport was very very busy and some places were not working very efficiently (security scan when you go from the plane to the transit lounge). The departure gate was overflowing in the waiting areas and the bus ride to the plane was very crowded. Aside from this Istanbul airport and the transit lounge were very pleasant."

I had asked a flight attendant for a glass of water and was never brought water until I asked someone else. The check-in personnel and flight attendants seemed to have no knowledge of toddlers traveling with a carseat, so I had to explain to them that he travels with his carseat or he manages to get out of his seatbelt. They made some calls to see if it was fine to bring the carseat onboard and finally gave us the ok, which we were very grateful for. When it was time to board and also to exit the aircraft it was a very slow process...much slower than usual. Most airlines have you boarding 30 minutes prior to your flight, but we were still standing around waiting."

Nevýhody: "I'm so sorry to share a negative experience as my previous Turkish flights have been fabulous! This crew took more than 1 hr 15 mins to initially serve the meal and drinks. There were only 30 rows on the plane and two attendant groups doing serving, This is much slower than on other bigger flights with the same number of attendants. Pickup of trays was also slow. They spilled food on the floor more than once and on me during pick up of trays, without even excusing themselves to me or other passengers. It just seemed like an unusual Turkish Airlines crew. Crews are normally way more professional. I will continue to fly Turkish again and hope the next time will be a better experience."
Výhody: "Last time we flew through Istanbul Airport we almost missed our connecting flight though we had more than an hour. This was due to the illogical system of handling international transfer passengers. This time it was stream lined...no more security check point again, no long queues at passport control though we were not staying in Turkey, no more being dumped into the duty free shopping area, no more scrambling to make our connections. WOW! The plane from Vienna parked 100's of meters away from the terminal and we were bussed to the terminal. A Turkish Airlines employee verified that we had boarding passes to connecting flights then allowed us to gain access to the boarding areas. Clean,easy, simple! If this is the new norm, we are excited and will continue to make Turkish Airlines our primary flight carrier, as we fly a lot!"

Then it was back thorough security and a rush to the gate to get there in time to board. Lost our original seat assignment and wound up in the last row at the tail of the plane. Extremely poor coordination between KLM and Delta who operated the flight."

I am a fussy eater and don't really like airplane food but the food was actually really nice. We was given plenty of snacks and drinks in between meals as well. There was plenty of programmes to choose from to keep me entertained."

Nevýhody: "As an international traveler, I'm not aware of international flight times and rules when traveling. Thus, before my flight on the day, I tried to check-in online which was not available. I then checked check in times cut offs and on the website it clearly says in black and white that check in closes 45mins prior to departure. I made it to the Pegasus check in desk 55mins prior to departure, but it was already closed. In a complete frenzy, I ran to the one and only Pegasus agent and she absolutely refused to help me, saying "everyone knows it's one hour before check in". Uhm, no, everyone doesn't;t know, which is why they go and check it out on the website. That caused me not only to miss a flight and lose €120, but I then had to buy another flight for €370!!!!!!!! I now have to fight my way to the top to dispute this case."
Nevýhody: "I was traveling with sports equipment and tried to pay for it online. I could not find a place to buy extra lugggage for sports only normal luggage, so I had 20kg. Then I was told at the airport I had to pay 100 chf extra for my surfboard. Don’t make the website difficult to use and then charge me extra. It feels dishonest."

I wound up having to book another flight, as the Pegasus delay was 13 hours (even though other flights were departing to Bahrain much earlier)."

A lot of very small and upset children. Due the late take off I had no time to get food during my layover and so I bought a hot meal. It was mediocre at best for 11 euro. There was no drink served with it but sold separately. Then it took over an hour for my tray to be picked up."
